As of June 15th, 2017, Apple requires all third-party apps that access iCloud information to utilize app-specific passwords, this includes our Email app.
Please follow the steps below to correct this issue:
- Enable 2-factor authentication for your iCloud account:
- If you're using iOS 10.3 or later:
- Go to Settings > [your name] > Password & Security.
- Tap Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
- Tap Continue.
- If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier:
- Go to Settings > iCloud.
- Tap your Apple ID > Password & Security.
- Tap Turn on Two-Factor Authentication.
- Tap Continue.
- If you're an Android user:
- Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
- Under the Security section, tap/click Edit
- Ensure that two-factor authentication is enabled.
- If you're using iOS 10.3 or later:
- Generate an app-specific password:
- Sign in to your Apple ID account page.
- In the Security section, click Generate Password below App-Specific Passwords.
- Follow the steps on your screen.
- After you've enabled 2-factor authentication and generated an app-specific password, type or paste it into the password area in Email in lieu of your regular iCloud password.
IMPORTANT: App-specific passwords only work for the email address you’ve created for your AppleID. It will have an @cloud.com (or @me.com) domain name, and it could be something other than your Apple ID account name. You can verify your correct email address by visiting https://appleid.apple.com and check under ‘’REACHABLE AT” at the top of the page. Your address will have @icloud (or @me.com) domain names.
